WWE NXT Deadline 2022 is coming up this Sunday and before the event takes place, let’s run down everything you need to know about the upcoming pay-per-view.

Who is scheduled for the card? How interesting does the show seem? What’s going to happen with all the matches?

Here is a full preview of WWE NXT Deadline 2022.

PPV EVENT INFORMATION

Date: Saturday, December 10, 2022

Start Time: 7:30 p.m. ET (kickoff), 8 p.m. ET (main show)

Location: WWE Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida

MATCH CARD, PREDICTIONS & HEAT INDEX ANTICIPATION LEVELS

(as currently advertised; card is always subject to change)

Temperature Scale = Scorching > Hot > Lukewarm > Temperate > Chilly > Cold > Freezing

Heat Index is my assessment of how interesting the segment is, including how excited I am for the match and how intriguing the feud has been. The hotter, the better. Scorching translates to not being able to wait to see it, while Freezing means I couldn’t possibly care less and think it will be awful.

NXT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Bron Breakker (c) vs. Apollo Crews

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Bron Breakker wins.

Thoughts: Part of me thinks Apollo Crews was put down in NXT to be a big enough name to take down Breakker. An even bigger part of me thinks Crews was moved to NXT just because he needed a reset and they thought he’d be a bigger fish in a smaller pond there, as well as a veteran who could help the younger guys. My gut tells me Breakker is holding this belt until at least Stand & Deliver, if not after that. Grayson Waller, Dijack and Carmelo Hayes stand better chances to be the next champion than Crews, in my opinion. I’m curious how the match will go, though. This could be a good pairing.

MEN’S IRON SURVIVOR CHALLENGE MATCH:
Axiom vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller vs. JD McDonagh vs. Joe Gacy

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Grayson Waller wins.

Thoughts: This match seems like it will be so clunky and hard to keep track of. I guess we’re in for an interesting ride. To be honest, I’m disappointed with several of these competitors. Axiom has no business being here. Joe Gacy has never done much for me. JD McDonagh has some great stuff to offer, but he’s already had so many matches in the title hunt. I was hoping for some fresh faces. Since they’re all heels except Axiom, any of those four could win, but I’m leaning toward Waller. Hayes hasn’t had a one-on-one shot against Breakker, but neither has Waller. Whichever one doesn’t win this is likely going to have the Stand & Deliver match and become the new champion, as I think Breakker will beat this winner at Vengeance Day. One of those two is beating Breakker, I think, since Dijak is in the North American title hunt, instead. My gut tells me Waller, but maybe I’m just jumping ahead to April.

WOMEN’S IRON SURVIVOR CHALLENGE MATCH:
Cora Jade vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Kiana James vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Zoey Stark

Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Roxanne Perez wins.

Thoughts: Like the men’s match, I fully expect this to be a mess. On top of that, I don’t think these five would be the ones I would necessarily bank on as the best possible crew for this match. Nevertheless, this is what we’re working with, so I think it has to be Perez who wins. She’s the only babyface in the group. Mandy Rose won’t go up against one of the heels. Not a chance.

NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Pretty Deadly (c) vs. The New Day

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Pretty Deadly wins.

Thoughts: This came out of nowhere, but I’m totally down for it. If you’re not going to build a good story, at least give me a surprise that feels exciting. Since I’m a big fan of The New Day, and they’re a fresh set of opponents for Pretty Deadly, this has more going for it than if they just had the same few tag teams in contention again. Plus, there’s a chance Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston leave with the belts. I’d be down for that. Granted, I don’t think that will happen, but it means I’ll be happy either way. New Day as champions would be fun, but if Pretty Deadly wins, they get a credibility boost. Win-win scenario in my book.

SINGLES MATCH:
Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn

Heat Index = Cold
Prediction: Isla Dawn wins.

Thoughts: So no NXT Women’s Championship match, nor an NXT North American Championship match, but this is on the card? Lame. This isn’t even something I’d be interested to watch on television, let alone taking up spot on a pay-per-view. I’ve seen them go up against each other in NXT UK. Nothing’s different. Zilch is on the line. It doesn’t matter and it won’t be a great match by any means. Snooze. Dawn wins, I guess.

OVERALL PPV:
How excited am I for the event as a whole?

Heat Index = Lukewarm

Thoughts: That Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn match really took this down a peg. I’d be higher up on this card if it were just four matches, even, and they took that out. I’m curious about this Iron Survivor Challenge concept. However, I do think it will be more of a “tried it and it sucked, but hey, we tried” thing and less of the birth of a new amazing classic match gimmick. This could very well be a holdover event where nothing really happens, or where some major changes take place.
