Match Predictions and Heat Index Anticipation Levels

Temperature Scale = Scorching > Hot > Lukewarm > Temperate > Chilly > Cold > Freezing

Heat Index is my assessment of how interesting the segment is, including how excited I am for the match and how intriguing the feud has been. The hotter, the better. Scorching translates to not being able to wait to see it, while Freezing means I couldn’t possibly care less and think it will be awful.

5-ON-5 MEN’S SURVIVOR SERIES ELIMINATION MATCH:
Team Raw (AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, Keith Lee, Riddle and Sheamus) vs. Team SmackDown (Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, King Corbin, Otis and Seth Rollins)

Heat Index = Scorching
Prediction: Team Raw wins.

Thoughts: Just looking at these two teams, I feel like Raw has an advantage. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re guaranteed to win, though. There’s nothing stopping Team SmackDown from coming out with a victory. However, Rollins is on his way out, Otis has been shafted recently, Corbin’s no better off than anyone on Raw, Uso can’t look too impressive as he’s not going to fight Reigns again any time soon. That just leaves Owens. Unless this whole match is there to build him up as the next No. 1 contender, I think it’d make more sense for Styles to do the same on Raw to set up a match against McIntyre.

5-ON-5 WOMEN’S SURVIVOR SERIES ELIMINATION MATCH:
Team Raw (Lacey Evans, Lana, Nia Jax, Peyton Royce and and Shayna Baszler) vs. Team SmackDown (Bayley, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Natalya and Ruby Riott)

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: Team SmackDown wins.

Thoughts: Evans and Royce weren’t even supposed to be on Team Raw. Jax and Baszler can’t get along with Lana. Assuming WWE doesn’t just want to play things off as a gag where Lana is put through a table during the match and then comes back and wins it as the sole survivor, this SHOULD go to SmackDown. That way, Belair should be the sole survivor.

CHAMPION VS CHAMPION MATCH:
Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns

Heat Index = Scorching
Prediction: Roman Reigns wins.

Thoughts: With McIntyre making enemies out of Randy Orton, The Miz, John Morrison, Bray Wyatt and more, while Reigns has allies like Jey Uso and Paul Heyman, I expect this to be a Reigns victory. Drew got his big win this week by beating Orton for the WWE Championship. He can lose (especially with interference) and it won’t hurt him at all. Reigns, however, should stay dominant for as long as possible. I’m excited to see these two clash now that their roles have reversed since the last time they were standing opposite one another. This time should be much better.

CHAMPION VS CHAMPION MATCH:
Asuka vs. Sasha Banks

Heat Index = Chilly
Prediction: Asuka wins.

Thoughts: I’ve seen this match enough times this year to not feel anything about it anymore. Had they not already feuded over the Raw Women’s Championship, I’m sure I’d have been more on the Hot or at least Lukewarm side of things. Now that this is maybe their fifth or sixth match in just a few months, I honestly couldn’t care less outside of just who gets the point between Raw and SmackDown.

CHAMPION VS CHAMPION MATCH:
The New Day vs. The Street Profits

Heat Index = Hot
Prediction: The Street Profits win.

Thoughts: This is awesome. I’m a big fan of both teams and I like how much of an equal comparison they are to each other. This is how Survivor Series should be, with both sides feeling as though they have the ability to beat the other and it not being contrived. I do think The Street Profits have an advantage here and will win, though, if not just because WWE positioned them as the underdogs who are “New Day lite” and this is how they’ll prove that idea wrong.

CHAMPION VS CHAMPION MATCH:
Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn

Heat Index = Temperate
Prediction: Bobby Lashley wins.

Thoughts: I’d much rather have seen Bobby Lashley against someone else here than Sami Zayn. That’s not a shot against Zayn, who I’m a big fan of. Rather, it’s just a matter of how uneven this contest is. Lashley is a dominant superstar while Zayn is a chicken shit character. If this is anything short of a squash, it’s doing Lashley a disservice. A better setup in my mind would have been if Zayn dropped the Intercontinental Championship to someone like Big E, Kevin Owens or Daniel Bryan. That would have been more of an even fight. But maybe this will be a fun squash.

(KICKOFF) DUAL-BRAND BATTLE ROYAL MATCH

Heat Index = Lukewarm
Prediction: Lars Sullivan wins.

Thoughts: I’m a fan of battle royal matches, so this already gets a bump up from Temperate just because it’s that gimmick. No one has been announced for it and the match doesn’t matter for anything other than another point between Raw and SmackDown. That doesn’t help it, but it’s not the biggest thing in the world. As far as winners go, there are lots of options. Big E is one. Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are others. However, I’ll go Lars Sullivan.

OVERALL PPV:
How excited am I for the event as a whole?

Heat Index = Hot

Thoughts: I’d be Scorching if this included NXT. Some of the matches are pretty weak, while others are pretty interesting. At the very least, the traditional elimination matches could be fun, as could the battle royal. I think by the end of this show, unless they book it to be a blowout for one brand like in the past when SmackDown got sweeped, we’ll look back on it as a fun few hours with a disappointing finale/farewell to Undertaker, who will have deserved so much better. We’ll see.

What do you think is going to happen at WWE Survivor Series? Which matches are you most excited to see? Keep the discussion going in the comments below!
