The Wyatt Sicks arrived with hype, mystery, and a powerful tribute to Bray Wyatt. What’s holding them back? Here are six reasons why the Wyatt Sicks aren’t working and what needs to change.
1. Still Living in Bray Wyatt’s Shadow
Last week, Bo Dallas said they don’t want to be a nostalgia act or offer closure. They won’t forget Bray Wyatt, but they want to move past the grief and build something new.
That’s all good in theory, but here’s the problem: everything about this group screams “tribute act.”
From the name and entrance, to the way Bo talks, to the personal connections and use of Sister Abigail, it is all for Bray. Until they introduce new elements and forge their own identity, that’s all they’ll ever be.
2. Using the Wrong Members in the Ring
I’m a massive fan of Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy, having watched their evolution through NXT, but this group is using the wrong people. Bo Dallas and Erick Rowan are two former tag champs with history and name value. They’re sitting on the sidelines while Lumis and Gacy, who have never been known as a team in WWE, are out there trying to make it work.
Individually, they can be intimidating, but right now, they feel like background players. They are probably the better workers of the group, but not enough fans care about them. WWE hasn’t given us a reason to see them as anything more. And Nikki Cross? She could be stirring up the women’s division, but instead, she’s doing random attacks that go nowhere. What’s the point?
3. Ignoring Alexa Bliss
Yes, I said leaning on Bray Wyatt nostalgia won’t move the group forward, but adding Alexa Bliss would actually elevate them. Bliss reuniting with Nikki Cross writes itself.
With her guiding the Wyatt Sicks like Bray once guided her, it would feel like a natural progression. Bliss being able to call on this group at any time would instantly make them feel important.
Instead, Bliss is tied up with Charlotte Flair in what feels like a side feud. That’s fine for reestablishing her, but this group needs her. It’s baffling they’re on the same show and haven’t crossed paths. Although it makes sense that Bliss only returned recently, so getting her back in the flow is a bigger priority.
4. Character Development
Turning heel won’t suddenly make the Wyatt Sicks interesting. What they need is character development. I keep coming back to these words whenever I talk about modern wrestling. Characters are what sell. Wearing spooky masks and talking in riddles doesn’t make you a character. It just makes you look like you’re cosplaying someone else’s idea.
The Firefly Fun House personas had their own traits, and as of right now, none of that has carried over. Uncle Howdy was a clean slate and could have gone in any direction, but nothing new has been established there. Also, when’s the last time we heard anyone other than Bo Dallas speak? And when they do, are they telling us anything meaningful?
Bray Wyatt would have insisted on everyone having a voice. Think back to Luke Harper. He stood out because WWE gave him space to be more than Bray’s backup. Making it feel natural is what made people care. The Wyatt Sicks don’t have that right now.
5. They Shouldn’t Be Playing By The Rules
Why are they only targeting the SmackDown Tag Team Division? Why aren’t they showing up on RAW? Or confronting Dominik Mysterio for the IC title? What about NXT, or even TNA Wrestling? The Wyatt Sicks should be unpredictable.
They talk about justice and righting wrongs. Then show us that. Explain why they’re targeting someone. Spell it out in their own unique way, either before or after the attack. Give us something to follow. Right now, it’s all surface. Remember their brutal debut? Why can’t they do more of that? The more unpredictable they are, the more fans will learn to react with, “Oh, here we go…” And that’s when it gets fun.
6. Make Them Smart
Sometimes they come off as foolish or aimless. If Bo Dallas wants to be taken seriously as a leader, he has to be smart. Think of how Raven operated. Or the Joker from Batman. Chaotic, yes, but always with a deeper plan. Controlled mayhem that serves a purpose. If A leads to B and C, which causes D and E, then you’ve got fans hooked. That’s long-term storytelling.
The problem is, WWE rarely commits to that. It can backfire to think long term when injuries and life happens, but this group needs a vision to survive. It has to innovate and become something Bray would be proud of. Speaking of which, Bray was often too cryptic for his own good, but the Wyatt Sicks could learn from him. Drop clues. Leave trails. Make fans follow the white rabbit again. Pull us into the rabbit hole, and keep us guessing. Depth. Layers. Purpose. That’s what this group is missing. Give us a reason to care.
Conclusion
The Wyatt Sicks are at a crossroads. While their debut created buzz, the group is already starting to lose momentum with fans who expected more than silent attacks and cool lighting. What we’ve seen so far hasn’t matched the potential that many believed was there from the start.
I shared this post on our social media and the feedback has been passionate. Some feel the tribute to Bray Wyatt is too heavy-handed, while others believe the group dishonors him by not doing enough. Some want Alexa Bliss involved to add presence, while others fear she would distract from the core focus. But one recurring theme is clear. There’s frustration that this stable has yet to define its purpose, its direction, or what each member truly represents.
WWE has a talented lineup here. That’s not in question, despite some saying they are all mid-carders. But talent alone can’t carry an idea that lacks identity. To grow beyond Bray’s shadow, the Wyatt Sicks need to stand for something that belongs to them. Something new. Something we can follow and believe in. So where does the group go from here? Is it just a waiting game, or is it already too late to build something lasting from what started as a tribute? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for reading! 🐰⭕
