Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
Rumor has it we could potentially see Goldberg and/or Jeff Cobb making an appearance at Backlash, or at least, soon after (be it on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown).
Of course, those rumors could be completely unfounded and entirely false, or there could be a sliver of truth in there. In any fashion, what they would be doing is entirely up for speculation if that ends up being the case.
My question for you today is “Would you want to see Goldberg or Jeff Cobb do anything at Backlash? If so, what would you book them to do?”

As far as my answer…
I’m interested to see what WWE has in store for both of those guys, but I have my reservations about what they could be doing here, if anything. When I look at the card, I don’t see many opportunities for them to get involved.
For Goldberg, my mind immediately jumps to him showing up in the Gunther match. Maybe Pat McAfee is beaten up so much by The Ring General that Goldberg is the one to step in and stop him, setting up a match between the two? If that’s the case, I again question why WWE thought Gunther tapping out at WrestleMania and then going on to fight McAfee would be the best course of action, as those three things in a row do not at all form a straight line to me whatsoever.
Then again, maybe Goldberg is more interested in a match with John Cena, and we’ll see him show up at the end of the pay-per-view as the next challenger for the Undisputed WWE Championship. That’s a match that no one will be looking forward to from a technical standpoint, but the marquee looks good for star power. If that happens, I think that makes more sense than for him to be on Raw or SmackDown, as that just adds another date to John Cena’s limited schedule. Goldberg ending Backlash and then being the guy to show up on Raw or SmackDown makes more sense to me.
Jeff Cobb is a total blank for me. MAYBE he is recruited by Dominik Mysterio to help him beat Penta and fulfill that storyline about recruiting a new member to The Judgment Day. That’s not where I’d put him, but if Finn Balor (and possibly JD McDonagh) could be booted out of the group soon, Cobb’s power could make up for the lack of members.
I don’t think we’ll see Cobb get involved in Gunther/McAfee, obviously not the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, I can’t see a reason for him in the US title Fatal 4-Way, and I don’t think it makes sense for him to be the reason Cena retains over Randy Orton. Even if you try to say that Cobb could start a feud with Orton out of it, why would he be attacking him?
If anything, I think Cobb makes more sense to show up on Raw and be a new member of the faction with Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins, and Bron Breakker. You could argue that takes away from Breakker, so maybe that’s not the best course of action, either, but if he’s going to join any kind of group, that one and Judgment Day are the only ones that I could pitch for.
As far as a prediction goes, I think we might not be seeing either of these guys at the show, but if one of them does pop up, Goldberg is who I’m leaning toward.
