Watching the promo between Kevin Owens and John Cena, it reminds me of every other time a guy gets in promo with him. U know, Bryan, Owens, Punk, ect. real wrestlers vs the superstar John Cena and it ends always the same way with classic John Cena responses to his critics. Cena’s counterparts just let him get away with it. U know the responses I’m talking about….the classics: The Champ is still here, I’m in this ring every single night busting my ass, He does it for every single 1 of those fans love me or hate me they respect me. So I’m sitting here thinking how should they respond to that same bs u hear in every single promo. That is why I made this blog today to give my pipebomb. My promo on John Cena. I want to be clear, “I do not hate John Cena”. I’m not some blind Cena hater, I like him at times. However, he is no longer a favorite of mine. I’ve grown tired of John Cena winning and overcoming the odds like a lot of wrestling fans. I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I know Cena’s response, just gonna state my case and leave it at that. Hopefully someone in the future will use it in the squared circle on the mic against John Cena. Oh and ends in a rant about what is wrong with pro wrestling today. “You’re welcome!”
Why do fans boo John Cena, he’s such a nice guy. He is a workhorse. People just don’t understand why is it half n half? Why “Let’s go Cena”/”Cena Sucks”? It couldn’t be because they want something different because they are tired of watching 1 wrestler come out on top all the time. It couldn’t be because every promo response to critics of John Cena is “The Champ is still here”. He is 1 of the greatest superstars of all-time which is said among many wrestling fans and wrestling legends. In yet, you are going to sit there and tell me since Cena has won the WWE title at WM21 til now that he has been on top……do you believe the fans tuning in then are still tuning in now? How about is there more fans now then in 2005? Well that isn’t Cena’s fault it is all creative. Cena has said on a number of occasions that he doesn’t want to be a bad guy as he would prefer to be a good guy for all the make a wish stuff. Still being a “Good guy” not changing really at all his character.
“The champ is still here” John, but where did all the fans go since you’ve become the champion? How many superstars have been created since you’ve become champion? You say this is your life John. That love you or hate you, I’ve got to respect you for what you put in this business. Hardest working man in the business reputation, yet moveset is a lot of the same old shit. Promos virtually the same as well. You want to give back to the business, but never have you lost clean without some bs finish. No distractions Johnny MITB 11, Edge One Night Stand 06, and so forth. John Cena is going to bring back value to the US title by winning it. Problem is with the statement is the only reason it has value is because the way they are booking the champion. Every week you have a surprise challenger usually from the town they are in to challenge that champion which is a great surprise factor of it. Cena isn’t doing what US champions were doing before him. Just losing random matches every week. Losing the world champion or the challenger for that title. Notice Cena is no where near the world title picture to put the guys in the main event over. I’d bet cash that when Cena loses that US title the open challenge will be done with. That champion will again be jobbing to whoever is in the main event picture.
The big question everyone asks is what is wrong with wrestling. Why isn’t it watched among wrestling fans like it used to be? Well UFC, it is 3 hours, the creative. Which I believe is probably some of the reason, but there is more. I think it is politics top stars holding younger stars back. This just hasn’t been going on for a couple years it has been a slow process of over a decade when HHH ran Raw in 02. Short history lesson: HHH=RVD, Punk, others; Orton=Kennedy, Kofi, others; Cena=Nexus n others. You can’t sit there and tell me Cena stayed on top for 10 years as the face of WWE with no politics going on to keep him there. Which is part of my point, look at recent events where fans just crapped all over a ppv because the results. Batista and Reigns winning Royal Rumble are great examples along with the ridiculous amount of Orton/Cena matches. Now days it is more about who you know which pisses people off. Not just wrestling fans, but wrestlers as well. Fans have gotten behind wrestlers and company heads didn’t like it so they jobbed them out every single week or had him team up with someone to keep him from main events: Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Sandow, RVD, and the list goes on. Back in the day, the guy fans got behind got what he deserved…..the damn title and not jobbed out. Now it is “root for this guy, but we like this guy over here. No root for this guy. We are gonna push him n you are gonna like it. You will continue to tune in any way so we are pushing him. Unfortunately, pushing guys despite what fans want has backfired and fans left because of it. That my friends to me the biggest problem. It isn’t because of pg, blood, UFC, 3 hours. It is because they are not giving us fans what we want.
I gotta be honest with you, I don’t watch Raw live anymore. I watch other things like the NBA Finals, football, and so on. If nothing else is on, I do other things while my talking box has Raw on until the good parts I want to see presents itself. I fastforward to the good parts which is minimal unfortunately now days. You actually believe I want to start the show and end it with Seth Rollins is the future of the WWE every single week while Steph n HHH kiss. I skip those promos til Ambrose comes out to respond to whatever they said. I don’t need Kane and Big Show vs Reigns or Ambrose every week to help me sleep better at night. Give us fans what we want. Ambrose is great on the mic and in the ring……give him the damn belt. Not the guy who reads from a teleprompter like Reigns. Give me Cesaro, but he isn’t that great on the mic. Batista main evented Wrestlemania after Wrestlemania without being that great on the mic. Cesaro has a great look too. What is wrong with midcard titles? How about not have them job out week after week.
It became a rant instead of a promo based on Cena and what is wrong with pro wrestling today in my
