Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Continuing on with our laundry list of pay-per-views happening this weekend, let’s turn our attention to predictions for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX. Be sure to check out live coverage of the results here starting at 8pm ET when it airs on NBC and Peacock.

My question for you today is “Who do you think will win the matches at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 39?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker vs CM Punk and Sami Zayn

You can’t do a major turn like Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman at WrestleMania, follow it up with Bron Breakker joining the group, flat out say to the audience “this is the angle that we’re banking on to take us to WrestleMania next year”, and then have that team lose their first pay-per-view match. That’s especially true when it means nothing for the babyfaces to win. Nothing is on the line, and they lose nothing by coming up short. Hell, they’re not even a proper team to lose credibility on that front!

Whether it’s by hook or by crook, or through some sort of miscommunication between Punk and Zayn, the heels have to win. I don’t think Zayn is going to turn heel here, for the people who are predicting that, but I do think Zayn could potentially win Money in the Bank and turn heel to cash in on Jey Uso.

Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Jey Uso (c) vs Logan Paul

Speaking of Uso, he’s obviously retaining the title here. As much as WWE would like you to think that there’s a chance Logan Paul fights Gunther on the June 9th episode of Raw, that’s just not going to happen in comparison to a Gunther/Uso rematch.

I’m more interested in what happens there than this Uso/Paul match, to be honest.

Is it going to be a Money in the Bank cash-in? Will Goldberg show up and cost Gunther to set up a match between the two at something like Night of Champions (despite how a title won’t be involved, but WWE’s long not given a crap about that)?

Uso didn’t win the title at WrestleMania to drop it straight to Paul. I do think he could lose it on June 9th, but that’s the earliest. In this case, Paul’s here to lose to Uso to give him at least one proper defense on a premium live event before things potentially turn chaotic.

Steel Cage Match: Damian Priest vs Drew McIntyre

This should be a fun match. They’ll beat the tar out of each other. I do think steel cage matches are flashier on paper and sound cooler than they tend to be, but we’ve seen plenty good ones for me to assume these guys will at least have a good match, even if it’s not the best hardcore fight within a steel cage, if you know what I mean.

This could go either way and I wouldn’t be shocked. With no stakes, it’s just a matter of who WWE wants to look better coming out of it. McIntyre won at WrestleMania, so it’d make sense for Priest to get the win this time to balance that out. Then again, if either one is more primed to fight John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship, I would think McIntyre would get the nod, even with it being a heel vs. heel feud.

My gut tells me McIntyre, but my brain tells me Priest.

John Cena vs R-Truth

It’s so weird that this is a non-title match. Does anyone have the balls to ask Triple H flat out why that’s the case? We all know John Cena wouldn’t lose the belt to R-Truth, and I highly doubt he would even lose this match with the belt not on the line, either. If he’s just planned to win anyway, why not make it a title defense to up the stakes? Is it just to give people the false sense of maybe R-Truth getting a win because the title isn’t up for grabs?

I’m glad they’re doing this. R-Truth has spent too much time over the years doing this John Cena childhood hero joke for them to ignore it. Hopefully, Cena destroys R-Truth (who is great, btw, that’s not a dig against him) so he can garner some serious heat.

What do you think? Drop your thoughts below!
