Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
TNA Turning Point 2024 takes place tonight from the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Stay tuned for the breakdown of results during the live coverage. But before that happens, let’s toss out some predictions!
My question for you today is “Who do you think will win at TNA Turning Point 2024?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
I never want to misrepresent myself to any readers out there, so I’ll always preface any TNA discussion with the reminder that I don’t watch Impact. All my predictions are based on an outsider’s perspective and what little information trickles down to me from other sources. Do not under any circumstances place any bets on my thoughts here! This is more of a question for everyone else that I’m just chiming in on, rather than something where I’m really trying to get my own thoughts across.
[Pre-Show] Three-Way Match: Rosemary vs. Savannah Evans vs. Xia Brookside
They just signed Léi Yǐng Lee, but she got attacked by a returning Savannah Evans—do I have that right? And Rosemary and Brookside are just in the match for the sake of getting them on the card? Hm.
That would strike me as Evans losing this due to interference from Lee, giving maybe Rosemary a chance to win by pinning Brookside? Or am I WAY off?
Frankie Kazarian vs. Mike Santana
Both have a pretty good win-loss record going on. Kazarian won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at the last event, while Santana beat Moose. Both wins mean quite a bit. With Kazarian being a heel in this scenario, thinking he should have the night off and eye the title match instead, I could definitely see Santana winning this, only for Kazarian to have that sort of “it doesn’t matter, I still have the trophy and I’m going to be the next world champion” attitude.
TNA X-Division Championship Match: Moose (c) vs. Laredo Kid
Again, I can’t stress enough how much I am not tapped into this, but this comes across to me like someone looked at the card, said “We don’t have Moose on this. What should we do with him?” and then, looked at the roster page, picked Laredo Kid, and said that that’s good enough.
Maybe I’m dead wrong and this is the crowning moment for Laredo Kid, who I don’t know much about. However, I’m going to say it’s probably going in the direction of the guy who has been on top of this company for a long while. Any time I’ve bet against Moose, I’ve been wrong, it seems, and this time, I’m not making that mistake.
Six-Man Tag Team Match: KUSHIDA & The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) vs. Ace Austin & The Hardys (Jeff Hardy & Matt Hardy)
Putting champions in a non-title match scenario on a pay-per-view always makes me think the opposition is going to win. It’s an easy way to establish new No. 1 contenders. Even if it’s Kushida pinning Ace Austin, The Rascalz will still be able to say they got the victory and that they should be entitled to a shot at The Hardys.
The simplest road is often the best one to take.
No Disqualification Match: Josh Alexander vs. Steve Maclin
Josh Alexander has gotten the better of Steve Maclin most of the time here, correct? Even with The Northern Armory banned from ringside, that stipulation doesn’t always guarantee there won’t be any interference. It’s a No DQ match, after all, which just begs for it.
My guess is someone else comes out, gets involved, screws over Alexander, and Maclin can get the victory. Alexander moves on to feud with that other person until his contract expires in February.
TNA Knockouts World Championship Two-Out-of-Three Falls Match: Masha Slamovich (c) vs. Jordynne Grace
Speaking of contracts expiring, Jordynne Grace is SOOOOOO going to WWE when she can. She’s not winning this title back. That would defeat the purpose of taking it off her in the first place. Whether she gets the first or second fall is moot because Slamovich has to get the other two to retain. This is the one match I’d feel confident putting a bet down on.
Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl Match: Joe Hendry vs. Eric Young vs. Hammerstone vs. Brian Myers vs. PCO vs. John Skyler
Good lord, I have no clue. The purpose of this is to put a turkey costume on someone for a moment, which is supposed to be super humiliating. Okay. Sure.
It’s crazy Hendry is in this match, given how you can argue he should be the world champion. Is that because the plan is for him to not be humiliated by it, but to try to turn it into some moment to be shared on social media? Maybe. I’d lean more toward anyone else losing, though, with an extra no to John Skyler, since he just comes off as the least important to me from my limited point of view.
Who do I think would make the best turkey, though? Eric Young.
Who would look the so-called funniest in the costume? Hammerstone or PCO.
Who would overreact the most? Brian Myers.
Take your pick. I guess I’m going with Myers, actually, since Skyler feels a little too obvious.
TNA World Championship Match: Nic Nemeth (c) vs. Eddie Edwards
Edwards gets this title shot for pinning Nemeth in a tag team match after Hendry inadvertently hit him. It’s basic, but it works well enough for a short turnaround.
I don’t think Edwards has much of a chance here. I’d put more money on Kazarian walking out with the title than Edwards, to be honest. But I don’t think that’s happening, either. Nemeth retains and Edwards is just a guy for him to beat.
