What Gimmick Would You Book For Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

It’s inevitable that Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa will clash to determine who is the rightful Tribal Chief sooner, rather than later. The Original Tribal Chief, as he now calls himself, went on the attack on Friday Night SmackDown, going after Sikoa once more to follow up on his surprise appearance at WWE SummerSlam.

Eventually, this is going to extend past these skirmishes and turn into a full-blown match. So, how should that go down?

My question for you today is “What would you book for Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

The way I see it, this is a multi-step process. Obviously, we need to get to WarGames, wherein I am hoping the lineup is Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, The Usos and Sami Zayn (as I think Kevin Owens and Randy Orton are distant enough that they shouldn’t be aligned with this group), backed by Paul Heyman, against Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga (who still hasn’t debuted), backed up by The Rock making an appearance to allow the heels to win.

But in the meantime, we need to see Reigns against Sikoa one-on-one. This isn’t something that can be stretched out forever, and the money match is Reigns vs. Rock at WrestleMania, not Sikoa.

I’m expecting Reigns vs. Sikoa to go down at WWE Bad Blood, rather than Bash in Berlin. They can certainly milk a few more weeks out of the singles match, heading into October. But I do think we should see something else in the meantime, so I’d pitch a six-man tag with Reigns reuniting with Jimmy and Jey Uso to fight Sikoa and two others at Bash in Berlin.

Come time for Bad Blood, though, I would have put enough focus on the ula fala necklace to make that one of the spotlights. I’d go so far as to say it might be worth exploring the idea of putting that on a pole, but I don’t think I’d head in that direction 100%. Inherently, most “___ on a pole” matches come off a little ridiculous. Silly isn’t something that should be paired with the Bloodline Civil War story if it can be avoided. And while there’s a more serious approach with a ladder match, I don’t know for sure if I’d want to see Reigns and Sikoa fight in that fashion.

I do like the idea that Reigns would be victorious, regain that lei, and make it more of an official thing that he is the Tribal Chief, putting any doubters to bed. Sikoa’s role is the impostor, not the successor. Plus, giving Reigns a win better sets up why The Rock would feel it necessary to pop back up in time for WarGames, to help swing the tide back in the opposite direction of Roman’s side.

I want WarGames to be the most violent we’ve seen this feud by that point, but I think it’d be worth exploring the idea of a No Disqualification match between Reigns and Sikoa in some fashion. A straight-up singles match feels too impersonal and technical for such a personal feud. But instead of going with Bloodline Rules, I think WWE should bring back the moniker of Tribal Combat for this bout, and incorporate a bit of the “on a pole”/ladder match type atmosphere.

Essentially, make it a No DQ match that can only end by knockout or submission, wherein the person who quits will have to do so by putting the ula fala on the other person and declaring them the rightful Tribal Chief. This gives Sikoa a moment where he has to bow down, which will make him even more upset and fired up for getting revenge to follow suit, and why he’ll call in the big gun of The Rock to sway the tide.

The Tribal Chief can only really be overthrown by The High Chief, right?
