Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
We have four pay-per-views coming up this weekend—well, a “monthly special”, a “special event”, a “premium live event”, and a “pay-per-view”, but what’s in a name? TNA Under Siege on Friday night, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, WWE Battleground with the NXT roster, and AEW Double or Nothing.
My question for you today is “Which of those four events are you the most excited to see? Or, if none of them, why is that?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
I’m not really a follower of TNA, so that’s already the lowest of the list by default. Plus, the card doesn’t strike me as anything that’ll change my mind and wow me into becoming a bigger fan.
Third, I’d probably rank Saturday Night’s Main Event. I’m glad it’s only going to be two hours, meaning those 4 matches will take up most of the time and I won’t need to suffer through eons of commercials like when WWE has 2-3 hour pre-shows and then 5 matches on a 3-4 hour event. Still, we’ve got a tag team match, a non-title match, a steel cage match (typically an overrated gimmick in my mind) and a world title match that they’ve already set up will not include a title change. That’s not screaming “can’t-miss” either.
While I would normally say I have far more fun watching NXT than AEW on a weekly basis, I do think I’m ultimately going to end up having more of my attention drawn to Double or Nothing on Sunday night, since they’re both running at the same time. Anarchy in the Arena alone is going to be the match I’m the most interested in, though Jordynne Grace versus Stephanie Vaquer is not something to overlook.
I really hate when WWE and AEW have their stuff clashing with one another. It makes it hard not just to do my job properly, but to experience any of it as a fan. That’s already difficult to update 10 or so pages of news/titles/results at a given time and not just feel like I’m 100% solely “working” rather than “being a fan”, but when I’ll have to double that attention and workload, it just makes me have to go into a cold and calculating prioritization mode. I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up having nothing to say about both events on Sunday, even though they’re the more interesting ones to me, just because my attention span will be split between them and it’ll ruin the experience. C’est la vie. Hopefully, everyone reading gets to either pick and choose or gets to at least not have to filter everything through the same analysis lens that I do and they can have an awesome time with all four!
