Which United States Champion Do You Associate Most With The Title? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

It’s Independence Day, so let’s toss out a topic related to the fourth of July and talk about the United States Championship. Something I’ve always been interested in is how we as humans tend to develop our own patterns and biases, to the point that over time, if you say something, we will inherently have a particular word association with that.

For instance, if you were to say to me “picture a WrestleMania logo”, I think of the old school classic design they used for the first dozen or so, rather than anything recent.

My question for you today is “Who do you associate most and/or picture instantly in your head in relation to the WWE United States Championship title belt?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

While I think the current version of the title is EASILY the best incarnation of that belt as far as aesthetics are concerned, I do tend to default to the previous version, since that was so much more bombastically “American flag” in comparison. It wasn’t a bad belt, but I think it pales in comparison to the belt we have now.

Since that’s the case, though, I don’t tend to think of any more modern United States champion holding that belt, like Apollo Crews, Bobby Lashley, or LA Knight.

I tend to go straight to MVP sporting the belt around his waist, particularly since he held it for one of the longest reigns in the company’s history.

I’m sure if I were more of a WCW guy, I would likely think of Lex Luger, or if I had been watching wrestling at the time that John Cena was champion, I might immediately think of the spinner belt. But since I was always more of a WWF fan in the 90s and I had stopped watching wrestling from 2000-2006, there’s a big gap that holds relatively no weight to me that would otherwise possibly heavily influence fans that were watching at that time.

I doubt it, but maybe there’s a chance Solo Sikoa has a legendary run with this belt and becomes the most iconic US champion in history. We could be talking about that in the future as a no-brainer, for all we know!
