Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Bobby Lashley told MJF that in order to join The Hurt Syndicate, he’s going to have to hurt someone to prove himself.
My question for you today is “Who should be the victim that MJF targets as part of his initiation into The Hurt Syndicate?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
My immediate reaction was “Hangman” Adam Page. For months, MJF has been bouncing around between storylines—remember that whole Jeff Jarrett thing?—but Adam Page has been a recurring antagonist.
The tricky thing about that is how and when to pull it off, and that may also render Hangman an impossible option.
For example, Page is set to face Will Ospreay at Double or Nothing on May 25th. That might not seem like it’s far away, but it’s 3 more episodes of time to kill, and I don’t know how much more of the exact same segment I can take. Plus, you can’t have MJF take out Page before the match against Ospreay, as people want to see that match, and it’s only really effective if MJF were to take him out prior to the finals and screw him over, rather than after. Sure, he could just beat him up after the match at Double or Nothing, but will that really impress The Hurt Syndicate?
I think Page has to be ruled out, and there needs to be another option.
My glass half empty idea is that they’ll just sacrifice someone pointless. For example, MJF will beat up Aaron Solo, some ROH jobber, etc. I wouldn’t be opposed to MJF doing that next week and it not being enough to impress them, so he has to keep going higher up the totem pole with bigger targets until he finally does take out a decent talent, though. That’s a way to kill some time.
Ideally, MJF takes out someone who can get some revenge after it bites him in the ass, and that it can work its way into a tag team title situation, too. For example—and I’m not saying this option, as it wouldn’t work right now—if MJF were to take out Bryan Keith. Then, Big Bill goes after MJF, and eventually, we see Big Bill and Bryan Keith against Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin as a result of this, with Chris Jericho coming back as a babyface to make it a three-on-three scenario with MVP on the outside.
Again, I’m not saying that’s my pick, but you see where I’m going about how it should lead somewhere.
If Buddy Matthews is potentially coming back soon, how about Brody King? Then, Matthews can be the guy going on the rampage, and those two can fight The Hurt Syndicate in the future. After all, MJF taking out Brody King would certainly be impressive, wouldn’t it?
Mark Briscoe? He has a lot of friends who he could team with. Just call any of those in to fight on his behalf until he’s back in action.
Boy, Paragon would have been a good choice for this if they hadn’t ran MJF vs Adam Cole into the ground.
Worst case scenario, he just beats up someone like Evil Uno and it’s somehow supposed to matter.
