Immediately following his championship victory at NXT TakeOver XXV, Adam Cole spoke to ESPN about the magnitude of being known as ‘Adam Cole, NXT Champion’ and his desires for his championship reign:

“I know and I know people all over the world know NXT’s potential, and when I say potential that sounds funny to a lot of people because of how big NXT already is selling out arenas all over the country and doing events overseas. People from all over the planet know exactly what NXT is. I want it to be bigger. I want NXT to go to new heights to do things that it’s never done before. And part of that process is me leading the charge, me being the guy to drive the car. I’ve wanted this for such a long time. This is the stuff you dream about when you’re a 9-year-old kid and you watch WWE for the first time and say ‘oh, I want to do this.’ Anyone who gets into this, especially the guys in this NXT locker room they all want to be number one. There can only be one number one I’ve known for a long time it’s Adam Cole and I’m happy that it is.”

“So there’s two reasons that the NXT Championship is so special. Number one is the brand that it represents. NXT has shown time and time again that we are the best. bell-to-bell sports entertainment/pro wrestling whatever you want to call it products on the planet. The other reason is the men who have held this championship. Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens– the best of the best of all this championship. So this championship is looked at as one of the most prestigious, if not the most prestigious, in the entire world. The NXT Championship has shown bell-to-bell, you will get no more exciting match in the entire world than the NXT Championship match. So me being the guy, again, I’m more than ready to be the guy to carry the show. I’m more than ready to be the NXT Champion and like I said I will continue to take NXT the brand to places that it has never been.”
