Adam Cole has not wrestled since June’s “Forbidden Door” event. At that show, Cole took the pinfall loss in a four-way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to Switchblade Jay White. It was whispered after the pay-per-view event that the four participants (Cole, White, Hangman Adam Page, and Kazuchika Okada) may have needed to end the match early due to an injury. Unfortunately, those whispers have persisted and injury concerns still linger months after the match.
It was noted by Dave Meltzer on the most recent Wrestling Observer Radio that there has been no change in Cole’s injury status, and he remains out of action due to a concussion. The concussion has been described as “really bad,” and due to the nature of the injury, there are some concerns that Cole might not ever wrestle again.
Since the Forbidden Door pay-per-view event, the Panama City Playboy has appeared on AEW programming only once – in a beatdown angle of the Young Bucks on the August 3rd edition of Dynamite. Though Cole has maintained his Twitch streams and seems in good health, that was the last time he appeared inside the squared circle in any capacity. As it stands now, traveling and wrestling are not options for him.
