As many of you know, Toni Storm was suddenly “released” by WWE yesterday and this came as a shock to many throughout the wrestling industry considering she had just challenged and wrestled for the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair in a losing effort.
According to Bodyslam.net, Toni Storm had supposedly wrestled at the WWE Live Event in Toronto, working a Triple Threat match and immediately following the match, Storm booked her own flight back home without notifying WWE or any of her peers backstage. WWE felt “blindsided” by her actions and therefore released her from her contract, covering up the fact that she just up and quit by saying she had “requested her release and the company granted it”.
Another WWE Superstar from the women’s division reportedly said, “It’s f*cking wild. She’s just gone. Didn’t really tell anyone.”
To add fuel to the fire, Dave Meltzer from WON says that her quitting the company may have come as a result of being “burned out”.
