On Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite (Fight For The Fallen), NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared in a vignette. In his appearance on the show, Tanahashi challenged whoever the winner was in the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship match between Lance Archer and Hikuelo.
The match would take place during the episode of Dynamite. Archer managed to successfully defend his championship, defeating Hikuleo via pinfall after dropping him with a huge BlackOut.

A date and venue have not yet been set for the Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Lance Archer match. This could well leave open the possibility for the match to happen in either AEW or NJPW.
Tanahashi and Archer have faced off in singles competition on three occasions. All three times were in the G1 Climax (2011 and 2019). In all three matches, Tanahashi has beaten Archer.
