During Wednesday night’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes came out and cut a promo about wanting another shot at MJF. He congratulated AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin on his win and said there was one man he hasn’t beat and that’s MJF. That’s when Jade Cargill, officially making her AEW debut, came to the ring and commented on Cody being a so-called “giant killer.” She said there is nothing “giant” about Cody and said she knows a giant of her own and his name is “Shaq”, clearly referring to Shaquille O’Neal.
O’Neal was backstage at AEW Full Gear and has previously said he wants to feud with Cody. For what it’s worth, O’Neal works for TNT as he hosts the popular “Inside The NBA” show before and after the games so it’s smart cross-promotion between AEW and TNT. AEW will get a ton of media attention from this as well.
Brandi Rhodes also got involved in the segment, screaming at Cargill for how she spoke to “her man” Cody. This appeared to be the set up for a Brandi Rhodes vs. Jade Cargill feud. For those unaware, Cargill has been training at QT Marshall’s “Nightmare Factory.”
