AEW World Heavyweight Champion “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Adam Cole was booked at this year’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view event. The following is the play-by-play coverage of the match:
They brawled to start off the match. Page caught him and hit a fall away slam. Page with a spring board clothesline then went for a dive, but Cole moved so Page hit a powerbomb on the apron instead. Page hit a moonsault off the top rope to the floor. Cole caught him with a head kick only for Page to hit a powerbomb for a near fall. Cole went for a sunset flip powerbomb, but Page blocked it. Page went for a moonsault and Cole caught him with a superkick.
Cole locked in the crossface, but Page got to the bottom rope. They traded suplexes and neck breakers. Page with the spanish fly off the top rope for 2. Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish came out to distract Page so Cole could hit the panama sunrise from the apron to the floor. Cole went for another sunrise, but Page blocked it.
Cole hit a low blow to Page when the referee was distracted by Fish and Kyle, which allowed Cole to hit panama sunrise and then the running knee strike for 2. Cole with some superkicks, but Page fought back and went for his finisher, but Cole landed some more superkicks. Page hit the dead eye off the apron through a table. The Dark Order came out to check on Page. A brawl broke out. Page hit his finisher, but Cole grabbed the bottom rope. Page tied Cole to the top rope with his belt and hit some superkicks. Cole answered with one of his own. Page with a superkick then hit the running knee and buckshot lariat for the win.
