The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event:
AEW Women’s Championship Match: Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Ryo Mizunami
It was a back and forth affair in the early going. Ryo got the advantage by landing some strikes then hit a few leg drops. Shida fought back and hit a suplex from outside of the ring into it for a near fall. Ryo with a few clotheslines then a powerslam for a near fall.
They traded some running knee strikes then elbow shots. Ryo hit a spear for 2 then followed up with a leg drop off the middle rope for a near fall. Shida with a knee strike to the back of Ryo’s head then falcon arrow for a near fall. Ryo poked her in the eyes for a roll up. They did several near falls towards the end. Shida picked up the win after a hard fought win.
Winner: Hikaru Shida (c)
Post-match, Nyla Rose attacked Shida then Baker and Maki ran out to attack Ryo and Shida. Rosa ran out to make the save.
