As many of you know by now, Sting’s son Steven Borden has been training with the likes of Darby Allin, FTR, Adam Copeland, and others as he looks to enter the professional wrestling business.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Adam Copeland was asked about whether he believes the son of the WWE Hall of Famer and now-retired wrestler can make it in the business if he continues to train as hard as he currently is.
You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On Steven Borden’s look: “I think at Revolution there in Greensboro, he got a bit of the itch. He felt what it is. And once you feel that, man, it’s hard to walk away from that. It’s hard to go, ‘wait that wasn’t cool’. You’re going to go, ‘That was really cool and really fun. It’s a great gig. So I think he felt that also in terms of his physicality. I mean, he’s 6-3. He’s about 230 pounds. He’s probably sitting about eight percent body fat. He looks the part. He’s got a good head on his shoulders, very similar to his dad in how he conducts himself, which is a great thing.”
On Borden’s potential: “I think now it’s really up to him. What does he want to put into it? Does he want to put in the work that it will take? Because you got to figure it. You might look at it and say, ‘Ok, an easier pathway into the business,’ but once he’s in the business, there’s going to be a big spotlight on him, and with that comes extra pressures. You’re Sting’s son and trying to break out of that. But, he’s smart. He’s smart, and I think if he wants to do it, he absolutely could do it.”
Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland have been involved in a long-term feud which has resulted in plenty of brutality and blood, and AEW President Tony Khan appeared on Thursday’s AEW All Out 2024 media call to discuss the rivalry and their Lights Out Steel Cage match that will be taking place at tonight’s pay-per-view event.
You can check out some highlights from the media call below:
On Strickland and Page: “I have so much respect for Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page both. I think they’ve both been excellent as the world champion of this company. I think each of them has been a face, an ambassador, a leader in this company, and they’ve also become iconic rivals. And when I think of Hangman, I’ll think of Swerve. And when I think of Swerve, I’ll think of Hangman forever now. That’s one of those great things to be in wrestling, to have that counterpoint to yourself.”
On the feud between them: “The things they’ve done to each other are so violent. The horror that they’ve inflicted upon each other is so indelible that this rivalry will surely live on forever in the memories of AEW fans, and I think [it] will be at the forefront of what we’ve done here in AEW.”
