The AEW All Out 2024 pay-per-view event took place at the NOW Arena in Chicago last night, and one of the matches showcased a champion working through an injury.
The match was between AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) and the Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta).
The finish saw Yuta attempting a splash but getting caught by Matt’s knees, leading to the EVP rolling him up for the victory.
The title match took place twenty-four hours after The Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Castagnoli & Yuta) and PAC secured a win against The Elite (Jack Perry, Kazuchika Okada & The Young Bucks) on a special Friday night episode of Collision.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez mentioned that Nick sustained an injury during the Collision match.
Alvarez said, “So if you watched the Collision match where Nick Jackson got pinned when Claudio spun him, and then Wheeler did the dropkick. If you watch the match, he [Nick] gets pinned, and then he immediately goes for his shoulder, and he’s holding that shoulder all the way to the back. As it turned out, he got hurt in that match and worked this entire match despite being injured, and you never would have known.”
Meltzer noted, “You would’ve known because his shoulder was taped up.”
Alvarez continued, “It was taped up, but, like, he could do everything…..you couldn’t tell watching the match. I mean, dude, everyone’s taped up, like Bryan Danielson’s taped up head to toe, but that’s part of his neck gimmick.”
Meltzer added, “[Will] Ospreay the same way, but this one was legit tape rather than storyline tape.”
