As we previously reported here on eWn, The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) are expected to be leaving AEW when their contracts expire. It is believed that they are WWE-bound. Penta’s AEW contract will reportedly expire first, while Fenix’s contract goes into September.

Fightful Select is reporting that AEW wanted to re-sign both wrestlers, but the process was delayed by both Penta and Fenix. Over the past few weeks, it became evident that the two weren’t looking to re-sign with AEW. AAA booker Konnan also seemed to reference their pending departures, tweeting the following, “What goes around comes around 2.”

It is said that there have been discussions internally in WWE about bringing in The Lucha Bros. Several WWE sources are under the impression that Fenix and Penta want to be a package deal and aren’t interested in going to NXT. Another source said that it wouldn’t surprise them to see one or both of the men in Orlando, FL in the near future to prepare for their debut.

Finally, it was added that The Lucha Brothers have been “very open” in claiming they’ve already had talks with WWE, and there was a preliminary offer on the table. The offer is said to be similar to what AEW offered them to renew their contracts.

The Lucha Brothers have been part of AEW since the company began.
