During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson was asked about not facing CM Punk in the All Elite promotion. He said,
“Sad isn’t the right word, like it was something that I thought was going to happen that didn’t happen right and so it would have been really cool and really fun for me.”
Punk and Danielson competed several times during their time in WWE, including as part of the Over the Limit pay-per-view event in May 2012.
The pair also competed in Ring of Honor and Full Impact Pro before either man made it to WWE. The two also teamed during their WWE runs.
Punk was fired from AEW in September 2023 following his second suspension from the promotion in under a year, just over two years after his debut.
Danielson is in his first reign as AEW World Champion after capturing the title from Swerve Strickland at AEW All In: London 2024.
