During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray assessed AEW WrestleDream 2024, stating that he wants Darby Allin to be seen as the leading “superhero” in Tony Khan’s promotion.
You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:
On Darby Allin: “As of right now, based on everything that I saw at the end of that show — of WrestleDream — I want Darby Allin to be positioned as my superhero! … Darby was the guy set up to be the hero.”
On what’s next for Bryan Danielson following WrestleDream: “You’re not gonna get his final farewell tomorrow [on AEW Dynamite], you’re gonna get his final farewell when he’s healed up and he can come back.”
In her latest “Mone Mag” newsletter, Mercedes Mone discussed her recent match against Emi Sakura on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, mentioning that Sakura was an inspiration for her during her childhood.
Mone revealed that due to travel challenges and other commitments, she had limited time to prepare for their match. Nonetheless, she still hailed their match as “epic.”
The TBS Champion said, “Emi is a Japanese icon and legend who’s been in the wrestling business for 30 years! She is a legend and someone I’ve admired and have literally been watching since I was 13! So, for me personally, as a fan of the sport, as Mercedes Varnado, I am more excited than normal. This will be one of those rare moments where I’m up against a veteran with so many more years and experience than me. It’s crazy to think that this is only the third time in my career that I’ve had the chance to face someone with this kind of longevity. There are really only two other times in my career when I’ve faced women with more years in the business than me.”
