As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, Britt Baker was recently suspended and fined by AEW’s disciplinary committee following a backstage incident involving MJF and his girlfriend, Alicia Atout, on the July 17th episode of Dynamite.

Baker’s legitimate suspension explains why she was absent from Dynamite last week.

Baker allegedly used foul language towards Atout, resulting in a confrontation between herself and MJF. Following an internal investigation, AEW chose not to suspend MJF because the HR department interpreted his actions as a defense of Atout and thus did not deem it worthy of disciplinary action.

In a recent interview with Stephanie Chase, AEW wrestler Deonna Purrazzo reacted to the backstage controversy between Baker, MJF, and Atout. She said,

“Very similar (describing the TNA locker room as like AEW in the way of being a family). I think this was just one instance that sparked a lot of drama and also kind of took on a life of its own. The rumor mill starts going, and things aren’t as they were. People add their two cents and it makes it way bigger than it was. I think this was an isolated incident because everything else that I’ve experienced in this locker room is supportive, encouraging, is a lot of camaraderie. We just recently celebrated people’s birthdays and had birthday cakes and sang. I feel this locker room doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves for that type of camaraderie. I don’t know what it was like before. I can only speak to my experiences, but I feel like it doesn’t get enough credit as it deserves.”

Baker returned to AEW Dynamite this week and will challenge Mercedes Mone for the TBS Championship later this month at AEW All In: London 2024.
