Penta made his debut on the January 13th episode of WWE RAW on Netflix, which marks a significant step in his career following his departure from All Elite Wrestling late last year.

Fightful Select is reporting that the deal was finalized weeks before his debut. His AEW contract reportedly expired on December 1.

While Penta was initially planned to team up with Rey Mysterio to face off against The New Day, those plans were changed.

Penta’s merchandise was released prior to his debut, which led to speculation about whether it was an intentional marketing strategy or a “happy accident.” Some are skeptical of the latter.

Penta was involved in photo shoots throughout the course of the day and was engaging with other talents, including Rey Mysterio who was introducing him to people.

As we previously reported here on eWn, Penta’s segment went longer than expected, with the pacing of the show being affected. While this is the case and some segments were cut, there isn’t any significant backlash toward Penta himself. With that being said, some members of management expressed their frustration related to time management, particularly with the show’s tight wrap-up for talent to catch red-eye flights immediately after the show.

As we reported earlier here on eWn, although they could have extended the time, they made cuts to ensure it stayed within the two and a half hours they wanted it to be. The edits were made to accommodate international networks and broadcasts of RAW, as well as those who had red-eye flights as noted above.

Despite any backstage challenges, the overall atmosphere surrounding Penta’s debut was positive.
