Jeff Jarrett believes there is a place for wrestling in the Middle East outside of WWE’s ongoing lucrative relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Since 2018, WWE has hosted events in the Middle Eastern nation, the most recent of which was WWE Crown Jewel which took place this month.
On a recent edition of his “My World” podcast, Jarrett spoke about bringing wrestling to the Middle East. He said,
“There is absolutely another opportunity in the Middle East. There is massive opportunities, to me globally… How do I make this concise? Well look — and for better or worse. Obviously, Global Force didn’t get off the ground, but I had a mindset to partner with international promotions right out of the gate. Because I’m not going to say that the United States is saturated; that is not part of — that’s a reality, but it’s not the main strategy. It’s that the world is just so much more connected due to technology.”
Jarrett later explained how the expansion of streaming services has made an international market for pro wrestling all the more viable. He said,
“The streaming world is taking place. And you just look at — you know, the country of India. Amazon Prime, Apple, obviously Disney, Hotstar, all that. The international markets for professional wrestling.”
During his time with TNA, Jarrett expanded the promotion’s efforts in India with the Ring Ka King promotion that ran from January to April 2012.
Jarrett currently serves as the Director of Business Development of AEW and oversees the live event experience of the promotion.
