The Ringer recently ran a piece on Michael Cole, which features comments from the RAW commentator about Jim Ross bringing him into the company. Cole said,
“When I started with the company, I was in a no-win situation. I was brought in to be the heir apparent of probably the greatest wrestling announcer of all time, Jim Ross.”
Ross also stated that Cole was “shoved in my chair to take over while I was healing” from a Bells Palsy attack. He said,
“People didn’t like him from the beginning because they thought he was taking my job. He does his job today better than I did my job then.“
