Vince McMahon was taken aback by the height of Chris Jericho, upon the Fozzy frontman’s arrival in the World Wrestling Federation in 1999.

This week marks 25 years since Jericho debuted for the promotion by interrupting The Rock during a promo on Monday Night RAW.

On a recent edition of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross recalled Jericho’s arrival and McMahon’s initial reaction to the signing from WCW. He said,

“I thought it was a great get for us. Chris was experienced. He was a veteran. He understood all the little nuances of becoming and maintaining stardom in a professional wrestling environment. One of my best signees, without question. I just remember Vince was astonished at how short he perceived Jericho to be.

“He was just a great get for us and he stayed a great get for a long time. He was very productive, made the company a lot of money, just like he’s doing now with AEW, and he’s still wrestling a lot. I like that aspect of his game. He never turned down an assignment. He’d wrestle with anybody.”

Despite McMahon looking down on Jericho’s five-foot-eleven frame, the Canadian became one of WWE’s top stars and a multi-time World Champion.

Jericho joined AEW in 2019 where he became the first AEW World Champion. He is currently in his first reign as FTW Champion.
