Konnan Calls Out AEW Locker Room For Being ‘Marks’ – Details

Swerve Strickland defeated Will Ospreay to retain the AEW World Heavyweight Championship at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024.

While many expected Ospreay to emerge victorious, The Aerial Assassin voluntarily chose to lose in order to elevate Swerve’s position. This decision has sparked debate within the wrestling community.

In a video posted on Twitter, Forbes’ Alfred Konuwa mentioned that regardless of whether Ospreay had agreed to lose, Strickland is currently the reigning AEW World Champion, and the victory served as a significant milestone in his career.

Konuwa also questioned the source of the leaked information regarding Ospreay’s decision to lose willingly. He argued that if Ospreay conducted himself professionally, such information would have remained confidential within the industry, avoiding unnecessary attention.

He wrote, “Swerve beat Ospreay at Forbidden Door and disappeared off TV long enough for a narrative to develop that Ospreay was doing Swerve a favor by volunteering to lose. What a hero. I wonder how that story got out? If Ospreay really was a class act, the story would have stayed backstage.”

In response, AAA booker Konnan offered a brief comment, implying potential internal dynamics within AEW.

Konnan tweeted, “biggest marks are in the dressing room.”

Whether AEW President Tony Khan will address the matter publicly remains to be seen.
