Major Backstage Update On MJF’s Return To AEW

As seen at Sunday night’s AEW Double or Nothing 2024 pay-per-view event, MJF made his return to the company.

According to a report from Fightful Select, MJF’s return to AEW has been coming together for a while now and Double Or Nothing had been the target date for a good amount of time. It is said that the preparations for his return were made well in advance.

As of late last week, there had been some discussions about his return. MJF had reportedly told some people in the industry that he wore an arm brace in recent weeks to throw people off if they saw him out and about. As we previously reported here on eWn, MJF was legitimately hurt when he was written off AEW television at the Dynasty 2024 pay-per-view event.

Additionally, it is said that Adam Cole’s injury impacted creative plans, with plans last year for a big match between the two that was nixed. Mikey Rukus prepared additional themes for MJF including the orchestral version heard in the vignette and a piano version.

There are said to be “major creative plans” for MJF to be in a top feud, and most of the roster believed that he would be returning at Double or Nothing 2024. It was said that the word was that he planned to fly to another city and would be driven to the show. He was also kept hidden before returning.

Finally, it was added that MJF is in AEW for the long term and is currently working on a multi-million dollar per year contract.
