MJF returned from hiatus at AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, where he laid out Adam Cole after being sidelined since AEW Worlds End 2023.

MJF worked the AEW Worlds End 2023 pay-per-view event in December with a torn labrum and a hip injury. He dropped the AEW World Title to Samoa Joe and was written off television.

Since returning to AEW programming earlier this year, MJF has worked a handful of matches including a win over Hechicero at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024, and most notably winning the AEW American Title from Will Ospreay on Dynamite 250.

In a recent interview with Cultaholic, MJF revealed that he has not yet fully recovered and is still not at 100 percent. He said,

“I’ve come back from injury and I will tell you candidly, so here’s a little clickbait for you. I’m still not 100 percent. I had to come back because I don’t know if you noticed this, but the show without me blew a bag of d*cks. So I came back a little bit earlier than I probably physically should have. The funny thing is I was still able to beat RUSH, Templario, soon it’ll be Michael Oku, Kyle Fletcher, and Will Ospreay, and I’m gonna do it again on August 25th. And that’s me at 80 percent.”

MJF will defend the American Title against Ospreay at AEW All In: London 2024 at Wembley Stadium on August 25.
