MJF’s International Title Now Renamed The AEW American Championship

Last week on AEW Dynamite, MJF defeated Will Ospreay in a near 60-minute match to win the AEW International Championship in the opening bout of AEW Dynamite 250.

This week, to follow up on that, Maxwell Jacob Friedman kicked off Dynamite with a celebration of his title win, complete with a rebranding of the title to better suit something more his style.

He tossed the AEW International Championship into a trash can before unveiling the new belt, which has been renamed the AEW American Championship.

This is the second renaming this title has undergone, after originally being the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. Considering the AEW Continental Championship is also there, along with the AEW TNT Championship, it’s interesting that these three midcard titles are sticking around and this one in particular keeps being reformatted.

What do you think of this new title belt and name? Is it a step up, a downgrade, or a lateral move? Do you think it will stay the AEW American Championship, or be renamed or merged/unified with another title down the line? Drop your thoughts and reactions in the comments below!
