The Death Riders storyline in AEW has faced its fair share of criticism, but Nic Nemeth says there’s one part of it he genuinely enjoys.
Speaking on a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Nemeth shared his thoughts on the faction’s dominant run and the ongoing attempts by various groups to bring them down. What he loves most, he said, is the uncertainty — not knowing who will ultimately be the one to finally take the group out. He said,
“We’re all vain pieces of crap. We want people to succeed, but we don’t want them to do better than us. So, you gotta have that in the back pocket of who wants to be the man who pulls this sword from the stone and finally ends the Death Riders, or takes Moxley out, or whatever the situation is. I love not knowing.”
He continued, “But the fact that we’re all invested in it, not just because it’s a dream matchup, not just because there’s a cool match going to happen, ’cause all the pieces are falling into place. All of AEW, people behind the scenes, people associated with the story, and some people not, and that’s what really makes it.”
Shotzi Blackheart had the chance to share the ring with Mercedes Mone — then known as Sasha Banks — during their time in WWE, and she says she’d love a rematch. Now competing on the independent scene following her WWE departure, Blackheart was asked during an interview with the “Podcast Heat Wrestling” podcast if she’d be interested in facing the current AEW star again. She said,
“Yeah. How can you not? Honestly, working with her on the main roster and then even the tag match that I had with Tegan (Nox) against her and Bayley, it changed me as a wrestler.”
She continued, “Every time I get in the ring with her, I grow, and she’s grown so much since joining AEW. So I wanna see what this new version of Mercedes Moné is. Yeah, I wanna go toe-to-toe with her. This new version.”
