All Elite Wrestling’s Nick Wayne is grateful that he was able to work with Sting before the Icon hung up his wrestling boots for good this year.
At AEW Full Gear 2023, Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland defeated Wayne, Killswitch, and Christian Cage in the Stinger’s sixth-to-last match.
During a recent interview with Wrestle Zone, Wayne recalled wrestling Sting after respecting the WCW legend for years. He said,
“It’s definitely something that, you think back to the younger you, and it’s like would younger me believe this right now if I told you that ten years from now, you’re gonna be wrestling with this guy?
“It’s definitely a huge eye-opener. But it’s something that I will never take for granted. It’s something that I will… It’s a highlight of my career thus far. So, yeah. A huge blessing for me.”
Sting’s final match came at AEW Revolution 2024 where he and Darby Allin retained the AEW World Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks.
The win saw Sting retire from AEW undefeated with a 26-0 streak. He and Allin vacated the World Tag Team Championships shortly after.
Wayne’s most recent match saw The Patriarchy lose the AEW Trios Championships to PAC, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli at All In: London 2024.
