AEW wrestler Ricochet has shared his comparison between pro wrestling and anime, with both forms using over-the-top characters and action.
Speaking to Case Lowe for Q101, Ricochet shared why his belief that wrestling and anime are very similar is apt. He said,
“Wrestling and anime are so similar as far as, even for example, old characters like Ric Flair for example. In an anime, when you see the old guy, when you see the grandpa or something come in, people are like, ‘Oh, man, that’s the strongest character in the whole thing.’ Because in anime, the older you get, your power level doesn’t go down. The older you get, the stronger you get.
Ricochet also spoke about working for Dragon Gate, which he called his favorite style in wrestling, and said it, like anime, is action-packed.
The One and Only isn’t shy about his fondness for anime and wore an attire inspired by My Hero Academia’s All Might at Crown Jewel 2019.
