During a recent appearance on the “Job’d Out Wrestling” podcast, Taya Valkyrie discussed the challenges faced by Canadian wrestlers in obtaining US work visas, which forces them to seek experience in other locations. She said,
“Well, I think that this happens to a lot of Canadian talent in general. We can’t just come to the States and wrestle and be doing a bunch of indies because it’s illegal. You need a work visa. That work visa is so hard now. Work visas are very hard to get, especially back then. So a lot of Canadian talent, you know, it’s hard because our country is so big and it’s 12-hour drives between shows and there’s just not a lot of indies in Canada. So you either have to go to Mexico, you have to go to Japan, or you have to go to the UK if you can’t get your your work visa in order. So I mean, it was definitely one of those things where if I wanted to get to the next level, I had to make a choice. I chose to – I had the opportunity to come to Mexico and I was invited by Konnan to come and train for five weeks and stayed five years. Now I have a 13, 14 year career that has taken me all over the place, which all started there. So brilliant.”
During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander discussed getting used to the different atmosphere in the AEW locker room. He said,
“It’s way bigger. There’s way more people, there’s way more pieces moving around at all times. I was [in TNA] for a long time. I got to know everybody pretty intimately behind the scenes and work with everybody a lot. So coming in here, I’m a fresh face. I’m the new guy in the locker room, so I’m the one with … something to prove.”
And finally, during a recent appearance on the “Knockouts and 3 Counts” podcast, former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland explained how he needs to deal with The Young Bucks if he wants to return to the world title scene. He said,
“Honestly, it’s going to be a difficult one as long as the Young Bucks are involved with the EVPs titles. If it wasn’t for the Young Bucks, I probably would’ve pinned Jon Moxley at Dynasty to become the two-time AEW World Champion, which very few people have been able to do in AEW history. Back to the World Champion, for me, how the Young Bucks and EVPs feel about me, it’s not possible until they are taken care of and out of my way.”
