Fans and wrestlers alike may be curious to see what an AEW Women’s Tag Team division would look like, but don’t expect titles anytime soon.
Over the years, several wrestlers have put forward the idea, with Saraya saying in February that the titles would help bolster the division.
During the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about the possibility of adding the titles. He said,
“Oh yeah absolutely. We’ve talked about that, we’ve talked about a lot of potential additions in terms of championships. We have some really strong rivalries emerging amongst the World Championship, TBS Championship and ROH. The men’s and women’s division, I think there are a lot of possibilities down the line.”
In an update, Fightful Select is reporting that there have never been any serious plans for Women’s Tag Team Titles within AEW.
The closest the titles got to being considered was during the 2020 women’s tag team tournament won by Ivelisse and Diamante.
While the titles have been pitched at times, there hasn’t been any “steps” to make them a reality.
