AJPW Triple Crown Championship Vacated Due To COVID-19 Diagnosis

On June 20, 2021, All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Suwama was forced to vacate the AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship.

This morning, All Japan Pro Wrestling announced the title’s vacancy after confirmation that Suwama had tested positive for COVID-19. According to Tokyo Sports, Suwama has been feeling symptoms since June 18, 2021. While the initial COVID-19 test came back negative, further testing proved otherwise.

Suwama was scheduled to defend the AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship on June 23rd against Jake Lee. However, there is no telling what the future of the AJPW championship scene may be.

After winning the belt from Kento Miyahara at AJPW 2020 Dream Power Series, the seven-time AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion held the title for 454 days in this reign. His last match took place on June 9, 2021, at the AJPW Dynamite Series (Day 1) event, where he (alongside Dan Tamura and Shotaro Ashino) would fall to TOTAL ECLIPSE (Jake Lee, Koji Doi, and Kuma Arashi).
