WWE Mae Young Classic participant Allysin Kay recently appeared on the All Night Long Wrestling podcast. Here are the highlights.

Her previous health issues after being diagnosed with clots in both of her lungs: “It happened right in the middle of Impact tapings in January. I thought maybe I had fractured a rib or displaced a rib, or worst case a collapsed lung. I went to the hospital and it turned out I had blood clots in my lungs. I couldn’t really do much for 6 or 7 months, and I was on blood thinners. The first month or two I could barely move. After that I could work out but not really do anything full contact for a while.”

Her first match back taking place at WWE’s Mae Young Classic Tournament: “It was definitely surreal. I kept wondering what it would have been like if I hadn’t had the health issues earlier in the year. Would I have felt as much pressure etc. I wasn’t worried about re-injuring anything, I just didn’t want to look rusty, or be blown up. At the same time I still felt calm, I still felt confident because I’ve been doing it for 10 years.”

Her return to SHINE Wrestling: “It almost feels like a completely new place to me. The locker room is different from what it used to be. One thing I’ve always loved about Shine is that it’s very storyline driven. Shine strictly sticks to storylines and that’s where I feel like I thrive. I love being in a storyline and getting creative with it.”
