According to The Wrestling Observer, Terry Funk is back home in Texas and doing well. After his (25th?) retirement speech about never wanting to leave the ring, because it might be the last time he is ever in one, reports said that his health was a concern. Funk said that his daughter jokingly called him to see if he was dead after she read all the stories online.

The Funkster had inguinal hernia surgery on the 12th of September. It was supposed to keep him bed rested for several of weeks. Funk woke up at 4am and flew into LaGaurdia Airport for House of Hardcore’s New York show because he did not want to miss his bookings. He then drove to Philadelphia for the next night’s show and did not sleep until 4am that morning.

He signed autographs all day at the convention in Philadelphia, so was exhausted even before the show started. He was supposed to be in Tommy Dreamer’s corner who took on Matt Hardy with Senor Benjamin by his side and was supposed to be involved in a physical spot during the match, but seeing as he just had surgery, the idea was scrapped.

He asked Dreamer if he could leave sooner than scheduled, so Dreamer booked the interview segment earlier in the show so that he could catch a flight home. The reports of him not feeling well were as a result of his exhaustion. He was in no physical shape to be traveling that much, seeing as he just had surgery.

Funk made a joke, saying he had another doctor’s appointment in ten days to see if the doctor would allow him to leave the house. Clearly, the doctor had no idea he traveled all around this week. Perhaps he knows now, though.
