Athena has turned heel.
During Friday night’s live episode of AEW Rampage, the former Ember Moon attacked referee Aubrey Edwards, only to be stopped by the returning Mercedes Martinez.
While Athena picked up a win over Madison Rayne on Rampage, she attacked her after the match. When Aubrey Edwards tried to stop the attack, Athena took her out. That’s when Martinez made her return to confront Athena, who wound up leaving the ring. It appears they are setting up Athena vs. Mercedes Martinez at ROH Final Battle 2022.
This is the first time we’ve seen Martinez on TV since July.
