As you all know by now, Becky Lynch made her return at last Saturday night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event. She ended up being a last-minute replacement for Sasha Banks in her planned SmackDown Women’s Championship match with Bianca Belair. Lynch would go on to defeat Belair in just 26 seconds to capture the title.
As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, Sasha Banks was not cleared to compete at the event. Despite this, WWE continued advertising the match until it was scheduled to begin.
According to a report from Fightful, Belair and Carmella were told ahead of time about Becky Lynch’s return. Besides those two women knowing in advance, the news was “officially” kept secret from almost everyone else backstage. Lynch’s name was also not listed on the internal run sheets.
WWE reportedly added extra segments to the show to adjust for time, since Banks vs. Belair was scheduled to last more than 26 seconds. It’s likely the reason that the Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogz segment was added to the show.
Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins’ baby daughter, Roux, was backstage at SummerSlam. When Lynch returned to the backstage area, she greeted her baby girl.
