On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF cut an incredible promo, taking shots at AEW President Tony Khan, pleading with him to fire him. At one point during his promo, MJF called Khan a “f*cking mark.” According to a report from Fightful Select, the AEW talent’s reactions to the situation range from always thinking it was a work, to that it wasn’t a work before, but is now.

One talent said they’ll be frustrated if they find out that it was a work any further back than this weekend. This was because they claimed they spoke to both MJF and Tony Khan in confidence, trying to smooth things over, and were assured the issues were the real deal.

Another talent said they try to stay away from stories about MJF on Twitter and in interviews due to his tendency to stay in character. However, the notion that MJF is “always in character” was shot down repeatedly, because, if he was, “he probably wouldn’t still be working here.”

That talent also said they noticed more frustration with MJF earlier this year, and another close friend of MJF noted that they were adamant the issues were real. As we previously reported here on eWn, MJF has largely been keeping to himself at AEW Dynamite TV tapings in recent months and had been very open about his frustration with the company and his pay.

Several other people on the roster were said to be sympathetic to MJF’s frustrations with money, especially when it’s compared to incoming free agents. Nobody could confirm if Khan was in on the work the whole time, but many believe it became one after he and MJF had a meeting on Monday.

The report also specified these are not the views of the entire locker room, just those spoken to.
