On Friday night, it was reported that Jon Moxley has signed a five-year contract extension with All Elite Wrestling. The news was announced via a press release that was issued by the company.

According to a report from Fightful, there had been some talk that Moxley was working without a contract at some point. While that is not confirmed, it was being openly discussed backstage and AEW was said to be willing to do whatever it took to keep Moxley with the company.

The official press release from AEW stated that Moxley is now exclusively competing for them and its international partners, including New Japan Pro Wrestling. The presser didn’t mention GCW, REVOLVER, or any other indie promotions the current AEW World Champion has been working for while under contract with AEW.

When asked about whether “Mox” could still work for indie promotions in America, AEW declined to comment.

Additionally, it was said that GCW officials weren’t aware of the situation until they read the press release online. Nobody in GCW seems to know whether Moxley, who is the current GCW World Champion, will be able to work future dates after tonight.

Moxley vs. Nick Gage in a title vs. career match will take place later tonight at the GCW Fight Club event.
