During a recent edition of MLW: Fusion, MLW Middleweight Champion Lio Rush defeated AAA Cruiserweight Champion Laredo Kid to become a double champion. Following the match, the win was never referenced again. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company never had any plans for Rush to win the title. There was said to be a miscommunication during the match and it ended up the way it did.
After Rush became the champion, the idea was to “just go with it” and have Rush head down to Mexico and lose the title there. With that being said, Rush’s schedule hasn’t allowed him to work the AAA TV dates. AAA officials then decided to just go with pretending Rush’s win never happened.
