Randy Orton made his return to WWE television this past month at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023, where he joined Team Cody Rhodes to defeat The Judgment Day in the Men’s WarGames match.
Fightful Select is reporting that WWE wanted to capitalize off the buzz of Orton’s return, which is why they had him appear on RAW last week. It also allowed Orton to wrap up a couple of past storylines.
WWE wanted to give Orton closure with Jey Uso and the brief Judgment Day storyline that brought him back to television.
“The Viper” officially signed with SmackDown this past Friday and defeated Dominik Mysterio in a singles contest.
WWE is happy with Orton’s return, his conditioning, and his performance since returning at Survivor Series: WarGames 2023.
It is to be noted that Michael Hayes produced the segments for Orton on both RAW and SmackDown last week. During Orton’s 18-month hiatus, Hayes had focused primarily on Roman Reigns’ segments, and things related to The Bloodline.
