As reported over the weekend, Finn Balor was pulled from the WWE Smackville event due to what WWE claimed was an “injury.” That is not the case and it was actually an illness that kept him off the show. Balor tweeted a photo of himself in a hospital bed over the weekend.
In an update on this, Fightful is reporting that Balor had a stomach flu. He was backstage at the Smackville event and told many people for the first time that he had been hospitalized for his stomach flu. WWE officials then decided that Balor should be pulled from the show. Of course, he was replaced by Ali. WWE officials also thought about filming a segment where Shinsuke Nakamura took him out, but realized Balor had already left the arena.
For what it’s worth, Balor didn’t know of WWE’s plans and there wasn’t any bad intentions on his part.
