We reported yesterday here on eWn that AJPW’s Jun Akiyama will be “Guest Coaching” at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida from May 12th to May 22nd. According to reports, AJPW President and booker Akiyama and Triple H have been “in talks” since June 2019.
According to Dave Meltzer, several people within the Japanese wrestling industry are worried about the Japanese ecosystem if WWE brings either NXT or their own promotion to Japan. This could be similar to how WWE NXT UK has affected the UK pro wrestling scene. According to sources, it’s “inevitable” that WWE is going to set up NXT in Japan. Meltzer said, “The goal is to do it this year, but they’ve talked to a bunch of different companies, wanting to buy companies and thus far, nobody’s sold to them. We’ll see how this game plays out.”
