AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is only a few weeks away. Fans will experience the dream matches they have wanted to see ever since AEW came onto the scene. While fans do know that the AEW Interim World Champion will be crowned at the show, what isn’t known is the positioning of the other top title matches, such as the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Although it’s heavily rumored that Okada will defend his championship if he retains this weekend at NJPW Dominion, it’s still unclear whether his match will be the main event or who exactly he will face.

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer, the current backstage plan is for the AEW World Championship to close the show. The title match will feature Jon Moxley against either Hiroshi Tanahashi or Hirooki Goto, depending on who walks out the winner this weekend at Dominion. Moxley has recently aligned himself with Bryan Danielson and William Regal, forming the dangerous stable known as the Blackpool Combat Club.

Meltzer also reported that the current plan is to have the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship contested in a three-way dance between Hangman Page, Adam Cole, and whoever walks out champion this weekend in the match between Okada and Jay White. Both Page and Cole staked their claim on being the one to challenge for the IWGP World Title this past week on Dynamite. Page recently lost the AEW World Championship to CM Punk at Double or Nothing. Although it looked as if Punk would defend his newly won title against Tanahashi, it was revealed that Punk had suffered an injury and needed surgery, resulting in the AEW Interim title match scheduled for the event.

In addition to the two World Title matches, the event will also see the crowning of the first-ever AEW All-Atlantic Champion. AEW announced a tournament to determine the four competitors who will compete for the new title in a Fatal-4-Way match at the event. So far, PAC is the only competitor to have qualified for the match after defeating Buddy Matthews in the first qualifier.
