As we reported last week here on eWn, there has been some talk that Lucha Underground will be returning and will feature “similar ideas” but it’ll happen under a different name. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the project is being headed up by Konnan and Court Bauer.
The idea is to use the Azteca Underground angle as part of the reboot, with it being the spiritual successor to Lucha Underground. During several recent MLW: Fusion episodes, it has been teased that Salina de la Renta’s Promociones Dorado group has been purchased by “El Jefe”. Nobody knows who “El Jefe” is in the storylines yet. The original plan called for Dario Cueto to be in that role.
Also, a website for Azteca Underground is already up and running.
